‘I love that my child is given a safe space to explore, push boundaries and get as muddy and dirty as she wants each week. Every pick up, rain or shine, she’s had the best time.’

Outdoor Learning Programs

Overview

We provide RAD outdoor programs for children from 2.5 years old to elementary age! Each program takes place entirely outdoors (you read that right). Educators work alongside children to explore their environment, learn about the world around them and engage with one another in safe and positive ways. Children and Educators learn together through play and guided provocations.

What to expect

After your child is dropped off, the adventure begins. Our 'child-inspired/teacher-lead' approach provides opportunities for both children and Educators to contribute to the learning experience. We will explore our natural environment, record our inquiries and build on these interests. We document our projects via various medias to track our stories and integrate children into their learning. Families will be able to track our adventures through videos and images.

What we get up to

“It is necessary to be outside for our brains to be stimulated from the flow of sound, light, shapes and colours that nature provides. Especially between the ages of 3-6, when the energy flow in the human brain is at its greatest.” David Ingvar, Professor of Neurophysiology

No two outdoor programs are alike and no two days are alike. The beauty of outdoor programs relies on the fact that each session can be considered more of an ethos than a strict/structured model that is imposed without making the children part of it. Each session involves a lot of thoughtfulness and responsiveness from the educator to be able to deliver a learning experience and to become a co-learner with the child and the group.
