I got sick with an early spring cold last week & it has taken a while to get over it. It hit me hard & I’m still feeling a few effects. Why is it that the first spring cold is the worst? While I was being sick I discovered the documentary “Searching for Sugar Man” on Netflix, which tells the story of a failed American 70’s artists who becomes a huge hit in South Africa, but is an enigma. Nothing is known about him & two fans decide to change that. That’s all I’m going to say about the documentary as you need to watch it yourself. Re-discover Rodriguez & buy his albums if you love him as much as I do.
Happy Monday all! I know it might not be easy to wake up & “go” this morning so I hope that this tune helps you being your day.
Fun Kollektive fact, I made “Class Historian” my new alarm & I can attest to the fact that it is a great song to wake up to & start you day. The beat shakes off the cobwebs of sleep & puts a pep in your step, even though your tired from the time exchange* (*change, but I’m keeping this typo as we have exchanged time for the privilege of more sun this weekend).
If you are wondering “where have I heard this before?” The new Tinder ad.
As a tribute to Lesley Gore who died at the age of 68 today, we are featuring a classic Lesley Gore song “You Don’t Own Me.”
One of my favourite tunes right now is “Flaws” by Fujiya & Miyagi, an electronica trio from Brighton, England. “Flaws” has got just the right mixture of 90’s melancholy, electronic synth and lyrics like “I was right and you were wrong” to make it worthy addition to anyones post-break-up mix.
This week’s music monday is dedicated to the best season of the year – Christmas.
The song? An old favourite that has the right mix of cheer and cheese to keep your heart warm.
And since it is Christmas, this Music Monday comes with a bonus, some original Wham! Last Christmas album art.
Oh man, I love the ’80s.
Merry Almost Christmas!
Today’s music Monday is dedicated to holding on until the long weekend comes.
